Lubomír Dvořák is one of the most prominent Czech technical innovators of recent decades. As the founder of a company manufacturing SPIDER slope mowers, he has managed to combine engineering ingenuity with entrepreneurial courage to create a product that has gained worldwide recognition. From an original idea addressing the practical problem of terrain maintenance, he has built a successful company with a global reach and a reputation as a technological leader.
Beginnings and inspiration
In 2002, Lubomír Dvořák began thinking about a technical solution to a problem he knew well from his native environment—the maintenance of grassy slopes, which were difficult to mow and often dangerous for operators. And so the first prototype of a remote-controlled mower was born. The result was an original "spider" machine with a unique drive system and remote control, designed for professional maintenance of grassy areas in difficult terrain.
SPIDER – establishment and development
Lubomír Dvořák and his team started with small-scale production in a workshop, but within a few years the company had grown into a modern manufacturing plant with an international distribution network. SPIDER mowers are now exported to more than forty countries around the world – from Europe to the USA, Australia, and Japan – where they have gained recognition for their innovative design, reliability, and ability to mow grassy slopes with a gradient of up to 60°.
In 2003, Mr. Dvořák patented the first model of the slope mower, and a year later, in 2004, he founded DVOŘÁK svahové sekačky s. r. o., which has since been exclusively dedicated to the production and development of SPIDER mowers. SPIDER mowers are machines that can mow grass efficiently and safely, even in extreme terrain.
In addition to manufacturing mowers, our company also develops customized technical solutions. We specialize in the development and construction of innovative equipment according to individual customer requirements.
One example of our work is the design and manufacture of special chassis for robotic systems designed to clean SolarCleano solar panels. Thanks to our experience in design and development, we are able to implement even technically demanding projects and deliver functional solutions that meet the specific needs of modern technologies.
Innovation and achievements
SPIDER mowers are controlled by a joystick, a "dance step" system for movement in all directions, and high operator safety. Their radio-controlled design minimizes physical risk—the operator does not have to be in contact with the machine on sloping terrain.
The company has won numerous awards for both technical innovation and industrial design (e.g., the Red Dot design award), and its products are used in a variety of demanding environments – on golf courses, at airports, along highways, and at waterworks facilities.
The company currently produces up to 600 mowers per year and has 83 employees.
